fresh air…
“I think it is essential sometimes to go into retreat, to stop everything that you have been doing, to stop your beliefs and experiences completely and look at them anew, not keep on repeating like machines whether you believe or don’t believe. You would let fresh air into your minds.”
~ J. Krishnamurti
As a young boy growing up in 1970s the happy screams of children playing outside drifting in through window screens was the sound track of every summer. These days, open windows have given way to central air conditioning. And on the quiet street where we live today no children can be seen playing outside, even on the sunniest of warm summer days.
The simple fact of the matter is that we live in an increasingly fast-paced, technological world. Many of us work beneath the harsh glare of fluorescent lighting.
And it becomes too easy to lose ourselves in a “white noise” sea of text messages, emails and Facebook updates.
Sure, it’s great to connect with distant family and friends by means of LCD screens and share what’s going on in our lives while checking in to see what’s new with them. But ask yourself this question…
when do you have a moment to unplug and “check in” with yourself?
One of the best ways to unwind and “take a breather” is by simply stepping outside for some fresh air. An easy way to experience a change of pace is by changing your scenery, whether that means sitting on your deck or balcony, taking a walk round the block, visiting a local park or maybe driving to a nearby hiking trail. Just spending a few quiet minutes outdoors (without any distractions) is a wonderful way to clear your head, unclutter your mind, and maybe get a much-needed change of perspective on a situation in your life.
This oracle card comes to you with a specific challenge…
In the next day or two make an effort to step outside (of your comfort zone and your daily routine) and get some fresh air. Make an effort to unplug and spend some “alone time” in nature.
If possible, walk barefoot on a sandy beach, stand barefoot in the grass or soak your feet in a clear stream or lake. “Grounding” yourself is a great way to recharge your batteries, reduce stress, ease tension and get re-connected with the natural rhythms of the world.
