hydration…
“It’s like a garden: whatever you water the most will do the best. At some point, you decide whether you’ll water your career or your relationship more.”
~ Jewel
The importance of water for health and well-being is, in all honesty, obvious. After all, without an abundant supply of water life as we know would never have been possible on our planet.
And yet, somehow the significance of consuming enough water on a daily basis for optimal health gets overlooked by the vast majority of people.
Of course, there are exceptions. Gardeners know how important water is for growing healthy plants. And athletes understand that proper hydration is key for maintaining peak performance. That said, even the most health-conscious person can overlook drinking enough water each day for better health and well-being.
Not coffee. Not soda. Not fruit juice. Just simple, plain, boring, tasteless water.
But there’s more to “hydration” then simply drinking enough water.
Metaphorically speaking, what you “water” in your life with focus and loving attention will grow and flourish. So what “gardens” do you grow and “shower” with care and attention?
This oracle comes to you with a number of questions to consider…
Are you drinking enough water each day? If not, make a conscious effort to stay hydrated each day.
More than that, take some time today to consider where you “spend” the majority of your time and attention focusing on. What is potentially being overlooked right now in your life? What might you be taking for granted?
The key is not to criticize yourself about what you discover, or attempt to justify what you find. Like water, just let your attention flow to those areas that might been life giving “water” and remember to be kind to yourself. Just for today. And every day that follows.
