Reflection:
It’s easy to look at this image and focus on the horse galloping towards you. After all, horses are beautiful and powerful animals, especially when viewed up close.
But the thing is, there is a difference between a wild horse and one that has been trained to accept Riders. While wild horses roam freely wherever and whenever they want, it takes teamwork for horse and Rider to effectively move together “as one.”
And it’s up to the Rider to have the vision, the goal, the destination in mind in order to lead the horse…
“A good jockey has to be physically well balanced. You’ve gotta have quick reflexes, and you’ve got to be incredibly coordinated. But it’s your instincts that have to be perfect. You can’t be an exceptional rider without instincts.”
~ Chantal Sutherland
Seen from this perspective, the Rider comes to you today with a reminder that charting a path through life requires you to “follow” both your intellect and your intuition. Living a full and fulfilled life requires you to find balance between your “gut feeling” and the practical steps required to reach your goals.
Just as horse and Rider must work together to reach their destination, so too you must be in touch with and listen to both your emotions and reason.

Some questions to guide your meditation:
- To what extent do you try to “control” things?
- In which way(s) might your life be out of balance right now?
- Have you recently listened too much or relied too heavily on “logic” and “reason” recently?
- Is there something your intuition is trying to tell you right now?
