Reflection:
A Scythe is an ancient farming tool used for harvesting crops like wheat. It’s also perfect for mowing down tall grass or weeds.
Today it’s probably best known for being the scary “thing” that the “grim reaper” carries around with him (or her). Clearly, then, it represents “cutting things down.”
And usually quite suddenly.
But the Scythe can also signal a fresh start. Or “reboot.”
After all, every “ending” creates space for a new beginning regardless of whether or not the “thing” or situation ending is literal, emotional or spiritual.
Today the Scythe comes to tell you that an ending of some sort is on its way. And it will most likely come without warning or from an unexpected direction.
Just be mindful that the “clean break” or “cut” heading your way is not necessarily a “bad” one. In fact, many times a sudden change can actually be a change “for the better” once you have the proper perspective. After all, you have to clear away the “old” in order to make way for the “new.”
And though every ending (or sudden change) can be painful, the simple fact of the matter is that “death” follows life as part of the natural cycle. So even if this change has a lasting impact on your life, the key is to take stock of where you stand right now and note how your past has led you to this moment. For it’s time to “reap what you’ve sown.”
Finally, be mindful as you move into this new cycle to “plant” positive seeds through your thoughts, words and most importantly, actions.
Light aspect:
- Clarity
- Fresh start
- Losing “baggage”
Shadow aspect:
- Attachment
- Sudden ending
- “Reap what you sown”
- Unwelcome surprise
Some questions to guide your meditation:
- Is there something you need to let go of?
- Are you currently stuck looking at the past?
- What “warning signs” have you missed or ignored until now?
- How comfortable or flexible are you in the face of sudden changes?
