There’s something awe-inspiring about being in the presence of a Mountain. Little wonder, then, that they have often been considered “holy places” worthy of pilgrimage.
Quite simply, a Mountain cannot be ignored.
And should you find yourself hiking in the foothills it would be perfectly understandable to feel a bit humbled or intimidated by its sheer size and “weight” as it soars towards to the heavens.
Perhaps this is why so many people feel drawn to their slopes, striving for the summit where Earth meets Sky.
For some a Mountain can represent a challenge, obstacle or hurdle that must somehow be overcome. For others, an ascent up a Mountain trail signifies an “inner” journey requiring effort and stamina in order to gain something true.
Today the Mountain stands before you as a reminder that every path in life, no matter how beautiful or exalted, comes with its own unique set of challenges, obstacles or difficulties to be overcome. The point to remember is that only by facing these head-on can the really important lessons become second nature.
How you deal with adversity says a lot about where you are right now and where you’re ultimately headed. So don’t get discouraged. The key is to find an approach that works for you in overcoming the delay or obstacle blocking your path.
“If you are faced with a Mountain, you have several options. You can climb it and cross to the other side. You can go around it. You can dig under it. You can fly over it. You can blow it up. You can ignore it and pretend it’s not there. You can turn around and go back the way you came. Or you can stay on the Mountain and make it your home.”
