Archetypes and energy are not “gendered.”
But they are “engendered.” Traits which have long been identified as “feminine” can be (are) embodied in men, just as “masculine” characteristics can be (are) embodied by women.
As Carl Jung so aptly pointed out, both “feminine” and “masculine” energies (or archetypes) are found in every person to greater or lesser degrees. And it is the balance of these “forces” that make up our inner “world” which become manifest through action into our daily life.
Typically, “feminine” characteristics or qualities have been expressed (or understood) as: gentle, patient, kind, nurturing, emotional, accepting and receptive.
These traits are important and provide us with a full-spectrum approach to life. Sadly, in many circles today these characteristics are seen as less than desirable, not because they are labeled as “feminine” but because they are perceived to highlight or promote “weakness.”
And yet, Yin energy patiently waits for you to realize a seemingly simple and VITAL truth… that you can only live an emotionally and spiritually healthy life when you honor the “feminine” aspects of self.
Feminine energy remains a powerful force, whether you recognize its presence at work in your life or not. Yin energy is integral for living a balanced life and critically important for healthy relationships with your innermost self and with others, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
Some questions to guide your meditation:
- How can you honor feminine influences in your life?
- Do you find it difficult or challenging to listen to your intuition?
- Would a “feminine” approach help you with a current problem or situation?
- What steps can you take to better integrate the characteristics of feminine energy into your relationships?
