This new collection of 33 poems was inspired, in part, by the following quote from Jiddu Krishnamurti…
“So WHEN you are listening to somebody, completely, attentively, THEN you are listening not only to the words, but also to the feeling of what is being conveyed, to the whole of it, not part of it.”
At issue is a sort of verbal deconstruction of language understood in its purely literal sense.
To put it a different way, words are tools that are used to communicate meaning about “things.” And yet, when it comes to communicating our deepest feelings in relationship the very words at our disposal are often painfully inadequate for the task at hand, i.e. communicating what “really matters” to the very people in our life who matter most.
