“I’ve been reading and rereading the poems you gave me-sunflowers ii and iii, blooming jasmine, a turnpike, and tin watering can. I have sunflowers iii on the top of my pile-I think this is one of your best-the imagery, the rhyme, the way you lead us through your thoughts with the lifecycle of sunflowers as a metaphor for our changes. It’s elegant and powerful.
My other favorite (though there’s something to love in each one) is blooming jasmine. You’ve captured a moment and created suspense, as we enter this sensory-rich world of sight, scent, touch, and time stands still.
Sunflowers ii, A wonderful meditation on the wild and tamed nature of our relationship with flowers.
A turnpike- what can I say? You nailed it.”
